The Death Penalty is un-American. Especially, if you
believe the United States is a Christian nation.
There doesn’t appear to be a more obvious way of exposing
the falseness of the Boston Bomber’s religious belief system than his own plea
of ‘innocence’ in hopes of avoiding martyrdom.
What part about “thou shalt not kill” or the authoritative teachings
of Jesus regarding the power of forgiveness is not understood by the majority
of American Christian’s calling for Tsarnaev’s death?
Rehabilitation, not death would seem to be a true Christian
offering. A life imprisonment in
isolation of any human contact -- other than practicing Christian guards would
be a fitting closure to his life on God’s green earth. He
could also be allowed one copy of every version of the Bible that has ever been
written -- along with any other Christian publications offered by the survivors
of the bombing.
The death sentence has proven not to be an effective deterrent
to Muslims or non-Muslims alike. And it’s useless as revenge for taking more
than one human life. There is no
fairness or ‘justice’ in that.
Lastly, there is always the chance that this young man in
his solitude and reflection may someday come to regret his violent and murderous
actions. Perhaps all of his exposure to Christian writings, the kindness
of his guards, or the power of forgiveness of those he has injured would
inspire him-- to forgive all Americans for allowing our tax dollars to fund a
foreign policy that allowed an unrelenting murder of tens of thousands of innocent
Muslims -- so we would not have to forgo our ungodly addiction to burning fossil fuels that are destroying God’s green
and blue creation.
