Do The Freakin Math

Liberals and conservatives alike frequently rely on limited evidence, personal experience, religious beliefs or gut emotions to determine solutions for complex problems. From immigration to global warming - taxes to terrorism - or health care to free trade - analytical study is rare. Science based policy making isn’t the way of Washington. And the consequences are catastrophic. Change is urgently needed. Just do the freakin’ math.

US security requires global justice.

Dear Editor,

Ed Feulner need not waste tax payer’s money with yet another commission (“Taking a closer look at the terrorists threat”, 1-5-2016 Washington Times) to determine the best means of keeping Americans and our nation secure.   The Commission on Global Security, Justice and Governance report released its report in June 2015 (co-chaired by former US Secretary of State Madeline Albright and former UN Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs, Ibrahim Gambari) .  It detailed the threats we face and offered 85 recommendations to transform the existing global systems and structures (like the United Nations) that are failing us now.  The bottom line…we won’t have security on any level until we have global justice.  That’s something our government can’t provide but a new United Nations could if the protection of human rights took priority over the rights of nations and corporations doing whatever they want with no means of accountability.
